I am Judit, a costume designer and collector based in Budapest. I have been working in the film and theatre industry for over 15 years, during which I founded my company, AMBRA.

As an art history enthusiast, I have always been interested in historical eras and garments. I am drawn to the details that allow a costume to feel as natural and authentic as the character requires. This ongoing research and the collection of unique pieces — especially jewellery and accessories — are at the heart of my daily work.

About Me

Interior of an art studio or gallery with various framed artworks on white walls, a wooden table with books and art supplies, a black leather couch, and a bright blue panel in the center.

The founding of the company provided a framework for the formation of a professional community and the creation and development of a significant 20th-century costume collection. This has enabled me to participate in complex, high-quality costume productions.

Today, in addition to costume design, I focus primarily on collecting jewellery and accessories, further strengthening AMBRA's collection. The use of original pieces from each era—or their application and reinterpretation as models—is one of the most important principles which distinguishes my approach. Direct encounters with original pieces of costume history have given me the professional confidence and creative freedom, allowing deep immersion in the visual characteristics and cultural heritage of a particular era in films.

Our sensitive, detail-oriented approach at AMBRA helps us ensure that the characters' clothing accurately reflects their emotional state and social position. This process is what makes this field truly exciting and inspiring continuously research and explore new directions.
